Welcome.

I am Martin de Verdier, this is my domain. It is my personal domain for my personal site. I have had my own site since 1996, but I have only had my own domain since August 23, 2003. The main object of my site is for me to learn some web programming and to try different solutions.

I would not say that I have any real hobbies, but I am a great fan of both music and films. However, since I lack both time and real knowledge for updating my site about it, I have put Peter Traver's movie reviews and the latest DVD reviews in the frame to the right, thanks to RSS from Rolling Stone. Of course I also like to hang out with my friends.

I've launched My new and improved Pirates! site now. I got some complaints about the fact that the old site basically was a 1.3 Mb flash film, so I saw the need for a change. Now it's more HTML based with streamed audio and some much smaller flash files. The intro has remained unchanged though, but from when the Microprose logo starts to fade, it is possible to click it in order to skip the intro. I have also put the site on its own subdomain, http://pirates.mdv.se/.

I've also made some changes to my ever growing mySQL/php projects, the CD and DVD databases. Most prominently, I have added cover pictures for the CDs and I have also made some smaller changes that don't show but they have made the CD part more efficient and a bit faster (a gain that is, of course, more than offset by the time it takes to load the cover images).

I have just finished adding another decade of horror film covers to the collection, and I've also changed the thumbnail system, so the thumbnails now load faster. The new thumbnail system really shortens loadtimes. On that note, I have also just launched a Horror film forum.

...and please remember: it's never "just the cat"...
